Cet ennemi? ou plus or more precisely this adversary?

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversarythe devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

1 Peter 5:8

Is he real or just a myth?

Like most people on earth, the devil is often perceived as a comic caricature with a red body, horns, bat wings, a tail and a pitchfork. A cunning supernatural being, the personification of evil, opposed to God, to whom popular tradition lends a repulsive aspect but who sometimes gives himself a pleasant or seductive appearance in order to lead men more surely to evil, to sin. Sadly, many people believe that he is just a mythical symbol of wrongdoing. However, the Bible says that he is real and represents the very essence of evil! And his plans to increase immorality, sorrow, pain, and destruction succeed to an incredible degree. http://www.amazingfacts.org/news-and-features/news/item/id/10880/t/the-devil-myth-or-reality

The great seducer fears nothing so much as to see his ruse discovered. To better hide his real nature and his designs, he has represented himself in grotesque images intended to provoke hilarity and contempt. It pleases him to see himself portrayed as a ridiculous or repulsive being, half animal and half man. He is delighted to hear people who claim to be intelligent and knowledgeable pronounce his name lightly or in mockery.TS 563.2
Satan disguises himself with such consummate skill that one often hears people ask, "Does this being really exist? "The most obvious proof of his success is that theories directly contradicting the most positive statements of Scripture receive so much credence in the religious world. And because Satan can easily overpower people who are unaware of his influence, the Word of God warns us against the onslaught of this adversary by giving us many examples of his evil work and revealing his evils.TS 563.3
The power and malignity of Satan and his armies would rightly alarm us if we were not assured of protection and deliverance from our invincible Redeemer. We carefully fit our houses with locks and bolts to secure our property and our lives from the enterprises of the wicked, but we seldom think of the evil angels who seek only to do us harm, and against whose attacks we have no defence in ourselves. If they were permitted, they could derail our minds, deform our bodies, destroy our possessions, and end our lives. They delight only in scenes of suffering and destruction. Lamentable is the condition of those who, resisting the calls of God, yield to the temptations of Satan until they are given over to evil spirits. But those who follow the Saviour are always safe under His protection. Angels "mighty in strength" are sent from heaven to protect them. God places a guard around his people which the Evil One cannot breach [GC, chp31].

Let's take a closer look at what we know about him...

The bibleThe Online English Dictionary
His OriginSon of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub (angel) that covereth;and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, tilliniquity (=evil, injustice, perversity) was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Ez28:12-17
How art thou fallen from heaven, OLuciferson of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14

The law of love being the foundation of God's government, the happiness of all created beings depended upon their perfect accord with His great principles of justice. God desires all His creatures to be in the service of love - a tribute which comes from an intelligent appreciation of His character. He takes no pleasure in forced allegiance, and to all He grants free choice, so that they may serve Him voluntarily. But there were Lucifer who had chosen to pervert that freedom. Sin was begotten of him, who next to Christ had been the most honoured of God and stood highest in power and glory among the inhabitants of heaven. Before his fall, Lucifer had been the first of the covering Cherub, holy and without blemish (Ez28:12-17) {TS 536.3}.

Revelation 12:10

Et la femme répondit : Le serpent m’a beguiled me (= deceived, tricked, misled, lied), and I ate it.

Genesis 3:13

Jesus nous dit dans Jean 14:30 « …le prince de ce monde vient; but he has nothing in me« .

As soon as humanity began to bow to the influences of Satan (father of sin), the earth also began to deteriorate day by day. Catastrophes, diseases, traumas, poverty are the evils of our planet, such are the riches and benefits of sin.
